Our Adventure Begins Tomorrow

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Tomorrow is the big day! Our adventure will start with a trip to Macau where we’ll stay a few days before going over to Hong Kong.

Our first destination, Macau.

While we’re there we’ll be updating this blog but we won’t be posting any videos till we’re back. We’ll need a new, more powerful laptop, and more video editing experience, before we can do a near daily video post.

But fear not, the videos of our trip will be duly edited and posted as soon as we can once back, and we’ll make sure to get everything ready so that we can post on the go in our future travels.

Pedro: Today we were preparing some last minute things for the trip, doing some shopping, and practicing video editing again. Below is the video we edited today. Our goal for this edit was to try to edit in as short a period of time as possible. We need to keep practicing at this though, and try to get our editing time down to less than an hour so that we can do it wherever we are.

Our First Video

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Pedro: Before we started traipsing around the world with a video camera, we decided to try to make a video here in Singapore. We also wanted to test the video-editing software and learn how to use it. After all, this is our first time filming and editing videos, so we are as green as can be!

While filming we realized we would probably need a better tripod and more batteries since we ran out after only a few hours of filming, and we figure if we are in some remote place we might be filming for many hours without being able to charge them. We will also probably need an even more powerful laptop than we have, since even on our Dual Core 2 desktop with 2GB Ram Adobe Premiere takes its own sweet time.

In any case, we managed to produce something, after hours of experimentation, and of course, reading “Adobe Premiere for Dummies”. We are including it below for your viewing pleasure. Please don’t be too harsh on us though, after all, it is our first time and like everything, we hope our filming and editing skills will get better with practice :)

Grace: I probably need to go for some vocal and acting classes etc, but hey, I’m not a travel guide or a showhost, so I’ll skip that out ;) I guess when I’m outside of Singapore I won’t be as stiff since I won’t need to look like I know what I’m talking about. After all, my forte is trading, not being a tour guide haha! :D

One more thing, if you like this site and what we are doing, make sure to tell your friends about it! You can do this by clicking on the link below that says “Email this page”, or by using one of the social bookmarking links.

We’re traveling the world! Want to join us?

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

First of all, welcome to Worldiki!

We are Pedro Pla and Grace Cheng, married twenty-somethings from Spain and Singapore respectively, who love traveling. In this blog you will be able to travel with us as we go around the world. Our idea is to see as many interesting places as possible, including all the nooks and crannies that are off the beaten path and film and post them here for all to see! You can read more about us here.

We’ll try to screen a short clip as frequently as possible, unless prevented from doing so by unforeseen circumstances! We may not always be able to post as things happen since some places may not have Internet or a fast enough connection to post videos.

Another important thing, it will be just us two; there will be no scripts, no pre-planned dialogues, no Wardrobe Department, and our lighting will be kindly arranged by the sun and moon! Every day will be different! Different places, different experiences, and different people we meet along the way! In other words, we are a real reality show. Just us and our videocam.

Our first destination will be Macau and Hong Kong. We’ve chosen these places since they are pretty close to where we are now (Singapore), and we can do a bit of a test run and try out our camera equipment and everything else we will need while traveling.

These two places are also just a short budget flight from Singapore, and on the 25th of September we will be flying off to see and film them, for your - and of course our - viewing pleasure.

So if you want to keep up with the action just subscribe to our rss feed, and of course, visit this site as frequently as you like :)
