Hong Kong Ladies Market

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

To add a bit of variety to this blog, today we’ll be showing you our trip to the “Ladies Market” in Hong Kong. The name isn’t really indicative of what it is, since both men and women shop there, and we didn’t see any ladies for sale either ;) What we did see though was a lot of counterfeit goods from China!

There was everything from fake Rolex watches to fake Gucci bags, and for some odd reason the shop keepers didn’t like us filming! Maybe because they’re breaking the law and they could be severely fined or jailed for it? ;) Whatever the case, we got all kinds of reactions, from people asking us to stop filming, to one person physically trying to cover the camera with his hand.

But we filmed them anyway! Why? Because we’re video blogging around the world! How could we let a few fake-goods-salespeople stop us! :D

The police obviously know about this place as it’s in all the tourist material, and seem to be turning a blind eye. So we just had to show our findings online! :)

By the way, I had to post this video using youtube because metacafe, which we usually use, was having some problems today. Because of this the quality is worse than usual, but that’s youtube’s problem! I’ll try to get the video posted through metacafe as soon as it’s back up.

If you post a blog about this and link to our site, or if you forward this to a friend, you will stand a chance to win a Sony Photo Printer!

An Alien Music Video

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Scientists say that some parts of the oceans are less explored than even the moon! And they most definitely have a lot of alien looking life!

Watch this music video we’ve put together from our trip to Ocean Park in Hong Kong. Look out for the change in tempo near the middle! :D

After watching this, you’ll have to admit that some of these creatures look pretty alien! At least the type of alien from the 80’s computer games!

We’re just back in Singapore after an amazing 10 days in Borneo and we’ll be posting videos of our trips to Hong Kong and Borneo.

Hong Kong Food and MTR

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Want to stay healthy? Eat caterpillar fungus of course! At least that’s what the ads say in Hong Kong. I’ll stick to roast duck and shrimp wanton noodles instead!

Before we fly to see our good friends and distant relatives the Orangutans, we’ll leave you with another video of us in Hong Kong. Most of this was taken the day we arrived, in it you can see some of the Hong Kong food as well as their MTR system.

Stay tuned for more of our travels!

The World’s Largest Lightshow

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Asian countries like to have distinguishing things that make them bigger and better than others. First KL (Malaysia), built the Petrona towers which were the tallest in the world, then Taiwan built the 101 to beat them, and of course, the Mainland Chinese couldn’t do anything less. So since they now control Hong Kong, they’ve made the world’s largest skyline lightshow *clap clap*!

It’s a must see when in Hong Kong so naturally we went to see it. Once there we had the good fortune of standing next to a Chinese mainlander tour guide who was extolling the virtues of the Chinese “pseudo-communist” system to the Americans in his tour group.

After all, it’s a good thing that Hong Kong imposes visas on Chinese and only lets the rich in. Why would Hong Kong want to be flooded with 1.2 billion Chinese, and why would China want to lose any cheap labor? Of course that begs the question, if the system was so good, why would anyone (much less everyone) want to leave? We were really dying to ask him that, but then the light show started and we had to concentrate on filming.

The show itself was great, and remixing it to some techno makes it even better. :) Just the way big brother Mao would have liked it. ;) LOL

Oh yes, when you see Grace running near the end. She wasn’t being chased by the red army, she was just running to catch the ferry since it was just leaving the dock as we jumped in!
