Photos From Mt Kinabalu

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Before we continue with the videos on Mt. Kinabalu, here are some photos we took while there.

Pedro Rain Coat - Borneo

Don’t I look smashing in my yellow raincoat? Fit for a runway! Well, in a Borneo airport at least ;)

Pedro Raining - Borneo

I’m drenched and lovin’ it! Can’t you tell? No? Ok, well I would prefer to be a bit drier ;)

Long Worm - Borneo

Dinner time! I mean what else comes to mind when you see such a juicy 2-foot long snake worm?! ;)

Log and Mist - Borneo

Can’t you just make out old T-Rex sneaking through the mist? I couldn’t either, and I’m still alive to tell the tale so he mustn’t have been too hungry ;)

So there you have some more pictures of us tramping up Mt. Kinabalu in the rain storm! And make sure to subscribe and see the videos of us getting soaked and making our way up and down the mountain in the pouring rain! It will make you happy you got to see it from the comfort of your home rather than being there ;) LOL

Mt Kinabalu Climb - Part 2

Friday, December 7th, 2007

One of our main reasons for climbing Mt. Kinabalu was to see the nature there. It has such a wide array of flora and fauna that it is considered a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Seeing the rare Red Langur (aka Red Leaf Monkey), was definitely one of the highlights of the climb. Even our guide was pretty excited to see one and he goes up the mountain almost every day! :)

Mt Kinabalu Climb - Part 1

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

The first thing that came to our mind when we started our ascent was that the greenery looked a lot like Jurassic Park, with the ferns, the every present mist and the sound of animals in the jungle.

The ever present mist in the jungle.

42 Human Skulls

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Once upon a time in a Kadazan village in the jungles of Borneo, there was a chief named Monsopiad, he was revered by his people for defending them from their enemies and the local pirates. To prove his skill he would bring back the skulls of his enemies and display them in the village center.

300 years later, these skulls still hang from the place where his house once stood. Every 5 years a shaman performs a ritual to clean them of evil spirits. And while most of the skulls are cracked and old, they are still a vivid reminder of the way people once lived on the island of Borneo.
