Gazing Out At Manhattan
We’ve just arrived at our apartment in New York, well close enough, we’re actually in Jersey City right across the river from New York with a view of the great Manhattan skyline from our window! It’s been a long day of waiting - waiting in the airport, waiting on the plane for clear-off (1 hour delay due to air space saturation at JFK airport), waiting to retrieve our luggage, waiting for cab outside New York JFK airport, and then, sitting inside the cab for almost 2 hours (yes, insanely long!)!

The African cab driver didn’t know exactly how to get to our destination and he doesn’t speak any English! He was quiet when we kept asking if he knew how to get there. He took a long detour, going around in circles, but it wasn’t an attempt to chalk up the fares - he told us at the start he was charging us US$100 for the journey, including a US$4.50 toll fee.
Must be our most expensive cab fare ever.

Unbelievably expensive!
I guess most NYC taxi drivers won’t know how to get around Jersey City.
A typical cab trip outside of the NYC into NJ will cost you $75 at least. $100 is probably the norm now.
If your JC apartment is near the PATH train you could’ve take the JFK Air Train to Jamacia Station and then transfered to the LIRR to Manhatten and then from there taken the PATH to NJ. The cost would’ve been wayyyy cheaper but you had to lug your stuff around.
We had too much luggage to have to change trains 3 times and go up and down stairs with our suitcases.
But yes, we’re right near the PATH so we can easily go into town each day.
Oh, I almost forgot, welcome to NY/NJ. I live in NJ and am very familiar with all the crap the Tri-State has to offer.
