Back to Videoblogging
When we went to Borneo, we had very high expectations of what we would see and do, and these expectations were not only met, but exceeded! Now as we prepare our video blogs, and look over the video footage we took while there, it’s hard not to miss it!
As you can see, Grace wanted to check on the market at the airport there, but alas, they didn’t have wireless. Understandable though, when you think that it is really in the middle of the jungle, and it is surprising the hotels had such good internet connections!
Since some of you have asked, here are the details of our trip. We flew there on Malaysian Airlines, the plane was a 737 and the service and food were quite good. In Sandakan we stayed at the Hotel Sandakan, one of only two hotels there that is 3* or higher, and the other hotel was fully booked.
It was a bit of an odd hotel, it looked like it had just been partially renovated but then they’d run out of money or something
. Some things in the room were new, and others, like the shower curtain and shower seemed like they’d been around a few too many years. Each room had wireless internet access (for a small fee), which was surprisingly fast, although there were times when it was down for hours at a time.
There were also some problems with the water on our last day! The tap water came out brown all day long so we couldn’t shower or use it for anything!!!
Apart from those problems, it was probably the best hotel to stay at in Sandakan - it’s right in the city center, walking distance from everywhere, and it seemed relatively safe.
Since we’ve come back from Borneo, we’ve been busy planning our future travels. There are so many amazing places we want to see, and the hard part is organizing it all so that we can see as many as possible!

I liked your singing and playing with the metal lids in the background - it gave a nice feel to the movie
Hi Niklas,
I forgot to mention about the music, it’s traditional Kadazandusun (from a headhunter tribe) music which we filmed while there. As you say, it’s basically them banging metal lids and making a hiccup sound singing.
