I'd say, out of all the places we visited, that Borneo was my favorite. Cheap, fun, etc. We visited Semmengoh, which is just out of Kuching, and you get REALLY close to the orangutangs - who, by the way are NOT in cages, like they might be at other places.

You might also enjoy Mulu, with it's huge caves, and millions of bats that stream out of them, Bako for it's scenery and hiking, and a river cruise (well, it's a small motorboat) that goes up the river by Kuching.

Have fun!

I guess we'll have to go see for ourselves won't we

After all, there are both legal and illegal plantations of all kinds. Even the Amazon is being destroyed by logging and illegal plantations.

Pls don't copycat the info from US that oil palm plantation is forcing Orangutan from the jungle. I know because I'm from Malaysia. Even the experts in Wildlife knows that it is not true.
Why don't you search on the net and see for yourself the destruction of virgin jungle caused by soy bean plantation !.
